The Ford Fusion SE and Taurus SE have these basic conditions covered and also come with a host of other multiple features and enhanced performance to improve on these. Manufactured by the same automaker, these two mid-sized family sedans have as many similarities as they do differences. Both represent two of the most successful car models produced by Ford Motors and cater to the same family sedan market. Below you will find a detailed guide on exactly why these two sedans are what you should look for in a family sedan.

Exterior Design and Build

The Ford Fusion SE comes with a refined exterior design that is well served by the perfectly contoured body and noticeable Aston Martin-look-alike grille. This four-door sedan has an attractive design that is bound to get people interested in hearing more about it. On the other hand, the larger Ford Taurus sports last year’s exterior design upgrades that were mainly meant to improve the car’s aerodynamics for improved fuel efficiency.

Engines and Performance

Like most American sedans, the Ford Fusion SE and Taurus SE both come with high-performance engines. The Fusion SE comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder standard engine that is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, the Fusion has multiple engine variants including a 1.5-liter EcoBoost variant mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, with 181-horsepower, and a 2.0-liter 240-horsepower variant mated to a six-speed automatic transmission; both of these are four-cylinder engines. The Fusion SE models come with front wheel drive capability only.

The Ford Taurus on its part comes with a large 3.5-liter V6 that generates up to 288-horsepower while a turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine is optional with great fuel efficiency for the family sedan class. All engines are mated to a manual shift six-speed automatic transmission. Like the Fusion SE, the Taurus SE comes with front wheel drive capability and optional all-wheel drive.

Both the Fusion SE and Taurus SE come with a spacious cabin with plenty of headroom and rear seat leg room. Mouthwatering standard features include alloy rims, a six-speaker audio system, power accessories and driver seat among others for the Taurus SE. The Fusion SE standard features include a four-speaker audio system with CD player, USB and iPod connectivity, air conditioning among a host of other nifty features. Trunk space is extensive and handy for carrying a lot of family luggage.

Not forgetting the most important feature for family sedans both the Ford Fusion SE and Ford Taurus SE come with high safety ratings due to the multiple safety features incorporated in their design and driving capabilities. These two cars are similar in many ways, but the larger Taurus SE offers more space and features with stronger engines. On the other hand, the Fusion SE has a stylish exterior with a great variety of engines and transmissions to choose from.
