How New Ford Escape Compares to Hyundai Sante Fe Sport

FORDESCAPEWORK01_FINALR3Two hot selling SUVs in Olympia include the 2014 Ford Escape and 2014 Hyundai Sante Fe Sport. Both SUVs share a lot of similarities including their size and to some degree their style. There is no question that Hyundai has created a worthy competitor. Keep reading to learn how the two stack up to one another.

Both the Escape and Sante Fe have a modern styling with sharp headlights, and clean lines. While they look similar, many consumers feel that the Escape has the sportier look between the two. The interior styling of the Escape is very well put together, and the Escape Titanium comes standard with full leather trimmed seats. While the Sante Fe also has available leather seats, the comfort level doesn’t match up to the Escapes. The Santa Fe Sport and Escape both seat up to five passengers, however there is another version of the Sante Fe that fits up to seven. Ford buyers that need to seat more than five would be advised to consider the Expedition which can fit up to eight people.

Power and Efficiency

The Sante Fe Sport offers two engines, while the Escape offers three to choose from. For comparison purposes, we will compare the 2.0L turbocharged four cylinder available in the Sante Fe and the 2.0L EcoBoost four cylinder found in the Escape. The Sante Fe Sport has the slight advantage over the Escape when it comes to power, it is rated at 264 horsepower while the Escape rates at 240. However, with the additional power comes less fuel economy. The Escape gets better mileage and is rated at 30 on the highway and 22 in the city (front wheel drive version), the Sante Fe on the other hand is estimated at 27 highway and 19 city.

Ford is hard to beat when it comes to technology. The Escape has the available SYNC with MyFord Touch System that is unavailable to the Sante Fe. This system allows for voice activated communication to control make functions like audio controls or climate. Both vehicles offer other modern tech features like push button start, and dual automatic climate controls.
